BOATS AND MOTORS
- Boating Atlanta: Boating
Atlanta has a special for ABA Members only. They will install
a Water Separator Filter between the gas tank and motor for
$106. This is a reduced rate savings of over $50 for our members
only. The filter will help protect your motor from Ethanol
problems by becoming your first line of mechanical defense.
- Ethanol – “Lessons Learned the
Hard Way”: Folks, we’ve got a problem. The gas
we are putting in our boats will eventually kill our motors
if left untreated. The ethanol additive separates from
the gas and acts like a sponge for water. This is called
Phase Separation. It will then eat the core of fuel lines
and cause it to break apart. Not content with just ruining
the line, it will slowly start dissolving the pieces and
create a goo. Of course the parts, pieces and goo will travel
through the line to your fuel filter where eventually it
will move to the fuel pump and then to the fuel rails unless
it locks up the pump (which will cost you a grand or so)
and then you can guess where it goes next. Think what it
will do to the gaskets in the older motors. Bottom line,
this is not good. The best way to prevent this is to NOT
PUT FUEL IN YOUR BOAT WITH ETHONAL IN IT. That means that
finding stations that sell non-ethonol. If you know of stations,
send Deacon an email (deaconcoll@aol.com)
and he will post them on this net. Until then, you MUST protect
your engine as much as possible. Keep your tank full to limit
condensation, particularly during the upcoming winter months
and put Stabile Marine, StarTron, 4 Power, or Sea Foam in
your tank EVERY time you put gas in it. Eufaula still
has some stations that sell Non-Ethonal Fuel, the Shell across
from the Classic Inn, the Texaco across the bridge from Lake
Point on 431.
- Boats for Sell:
- Rick Tilson: 2009 20 X3 Triton w/250 Pro XS - 4 ½ year
warranty (404-323-2819)
